I am an alternate bum cheeks lady as well Gillypanda. You only get one FemSeven patch per week unlike the two estradots you get prescribed per week and I have managed to completely avoid the giraffe look.

Gilly my GP told me that it was ok to stick them anywhere (!), as long as you don't put them on your breasts. He said most women 'prefer their abdomens as they think it's going straight to their ovaries...' So I replied that the next time he saw me I'd be sporting one on my forehead I did try the previous patches on my arms & it seemed to make no difference to withdrawal bleed. Don't know if anyone else has tried other parts of the body? xx

For some strang reason I tried the front of my right thigh when I first started the FemSeven, every time I went to the loo and took my knickers up and down I knocked it off as they are not good stickers anyway. Talk about daft as there was a little leaflet in the box that actually had a diagram of where you were supposed to stick them. Ie the buttock or high up on the side of the hip. I think I have read you get good consistant obsorbtion from placing on them buttocks but no idea where I read it or how true that is. I can feel I am getting a stable even dose if that makes sense. xxxx

Great news gillypanda - yay!!!!!!!! You are sure to feel better soon! I put them on my bum too - the cheeks look like a zebra or like I've had a bad accident - but I don't care! Someone said something about utrogestan - is there a thread on this because it would be useful if not? (I read someone on another meno forum had trouble with taking them orally and so had ripped of the patch and stopped the Utro - if only we were able to be on that forum too as there are not enough women left giving sound advice.) sorry that's off topic. Bellaciao x I saw that as well Bella made me a bit sad. She had given up after a couple of days what a waste of the £15. She got very poor advice on using the utrogestan . I think if she had been given the correct advice and a bit of encouragement she might have progressed.

I'm on day 3 of my patches - I feel fine, and last night only woke up 3 times due to being boiled alive. I hope it's not co-incidence, or just because it's cooled down outside, as I still have my fan on, but fingers crossed...

i had to change my patches every 2.5 to 3 days as they wore off after that...also if your put them on our bottom, you absorb up to 20% more oestroegn from the patch x

Hi gillypanda Dont know if this will be of interest to you, but I was aimlessly surfing for HRT reviews and this popped up. Vivelle Dot is Estradot's branding in the US. www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20538&name=VIVELLE-DOTIt's actually from an american site as we don't seem to be into reviewing products in the UK in the same way; there about 12 reviews for 2012 so it may be of interest to you. It may take 30 secs for the site to load. In general all feeback seems positive as they rank out of 5 and it has achived 4.5. xxxx

Wow! Thank you for that, Susan. I have to agree with them all too. It's now been over a week and I feel so different. 2 nights ago I slept for 5 hours. 5 hours!! I haven't slept that long for about 2 years! I get a hot flush occasionally, and maybe one sweat per night, but nothing like it was before. I've got the dreaded dentist today. I had a couple of meltdowns about that on Wednesday, but I do wonder how bad I would have been if I wasn't on the patches as my anxiety levels are better than they previously were. I'll see you on the other side

Thank you everyone, I'm going in an hour... According to our time difference you would have been there around midnight for me, and sorry but I was asleep then, so I couldn't send you any good vibes....lol..... However, it's now about 12 hours later, so I'm hoping everything is okay and you are glad it's all over.

Thanks everyone. It all went according to plan, I don't remember much because I was sedated, but the dentist told hubby that the tooth was badly infected and needed to come out. My face is obviously quite sore and I'm still groggy, but it's all over, hurrah!

Glad it all went OK Gillypanda. Hope the soreness wears off quickly. I have had a few dental implants put in due to the sorry state of my gums mainly which I think is a meno issue. So feel for you having post dental pain.

hello everyone, this is my first post here - and what better place than the flush forum! I am 48 and entered this nightmare about 1.5 years ago... loud tinnitis, 24/7 hourly hot flashes, skin crawling, anxiety, sucidal feelings, severe insomnia.. nightmare. I never knew it could be this debilitating.

lucyabout. Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. If it give you any hope my symptoms are a whole lot better now 3 years post menopause. Hang in there. Are you on HRT or considering it? I never went down that route because my symptoms were fairly mild compared to some of the ladies on here. I hope you are getting help from your doctor. i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa394/Cybe2005/smiley-happy065.gif [/IMG]

Hi guys thanks for the welcome.
Yeah, I'm currently taking Kliogest - this has improved things alot. It seems to help especially with mood. Thanks for the encouragement to mumble and groan! it has been a nightmare - and I can see others here know the nightmare all too well. The lead up was pretty bad and I had no idea what was going on with me, my mother was dying at the same time, so I put alot of the presenting "health" issues down to grieving but it turned out it was menopause... the crashing fatigue, the insomnia and no sleep for months on end and alopecia.
After I went to bed last night, I remembered that I forgot to mention the chronic constipation, the constant need to urinate, the alopecia (full body) but the hairy chin! Sharing really helps. Noone tells you its like this! Doctors are completely uneducated for most part... one even tried to tell me I was possibly bipolar - the insomnia not due to menopause - but mania!..
The best education comes from others. Thanks for listening!

Hi Lucy Sorry to hear you're having a rough time I've also just joined the forum and started HRT 4 days ago so haven't really noticed any improvement in symptoms yet. From reading your post however, I'm just wondering whether you have ever had your blood thyroid levels checked, as quite a few of the symptoms you listed are associated with low thyroid levels: fatigue, constipation, loss of body hair, insomnia and tinnitus. Although quite a few of the symptoms of low thyroid and menopause are the same, the loss of body hair and tinnitus are usually more associated with low thyroid levels. It might be worth asking your GP to check your levels and if they are low, starting on thyroid medication might just help with some of your symptoms. Underactive thyroid can quite often start at the onset of peri-menopause too. It's just a thought, but worth checking out. Gill x

I feel the same. I was so upset in the beginning with the physical changes of meno - pubes falling out, boobs growing, waist thickening and let's not forget the meno belly and vaginal atrophy. A small booklet listing all the physical and psychological ailments and changes would have been so appreciated and useful. I have learned all I know about the meno from the internet and forums like this.

Hi guys, yes thanks Gill for the info on the thyroid - and yes correct, I have this issue too... long standing thyroid issues with a partial removal of thyroid (half) in 2000 and on thyroid replacement as well ever since. Bloods checked a while ago and "okay" but I think the thyroid issues definitely complicated meno. Yep also to the pubes falling out Gobe as well as armpits... got to laugh at how horrendous this all is.. and that it really isn't documented to the extent it should. Our generation also abit brainwashed to "embrace" the change and not use HRT - but its really a nightmare without any assistance. I remember my mother going off HRT during the scare and going downhill after that. Pinky the klio definitely stopped me feeling suicidal.. but I'm still "hot" at night these days - as you say, its up and down - but definitely improvement.

Pubic hair often regrws when you add testosterone to your HRT. Our generation has been brainwashed into embracing the change but I have always refused to take that half baked philosophy on board. Lucy if you are still hot at night it is either your thyroid causing problems or your estradiol needs raising. Jacks

Hi Jacks thanks so much. Before I went onto the combined treatment (klio) about six months ago, I was using progestone cream only and quite alot of it. I think I might havae taken too much of it and perhaps it competed too much with my failing estrogen levels. I have increased my thyroid med by 25 mcg's in the last few days to see whether it makes a difference and will go back again to the doc to see if its within normal range. I'm currently on quite a low dose of thyroxine (50 mcgs) considering I'm living with half a thyroid. I haven't tried testosterone.. could that help with mood as well? I feel like a completely different person since menoapause.. I feel like I'm a stranger to myself, and its quite unsettling x

hi lucy testosterone is very helpful for mood. I also recommend reading Uzzi Reiss Superwoman and Thierry Hertoghe Hormone Solution which give detailed run downs of many of the main hormones. What is it like having half the thyroid removed? mine is over active and I may need to consider it in the future if it doesn't stop. Jacks xx
