Hi Bella, just wanted to wish you luck with it and will follow your progress with interest. I do hope it works for you. I just know that I wouldn't have the right kind of will power for it and have a form of IBS that I struggle with at times so it isn't one for me.
I do love the idea though that it can actually alter your metabolic rate as I'm sure as we age the metabolism just gets slower and slower and that is why people put on so much weight even though they have not increased what the actually eat caloriewise.
I know if at 20 I had eaten what I currently eat, I would have lost weight hand over fist. Nowadays no chance and I really can't take any liberties at all with food, unlike years ago when the odd treat a couple of times a week would make no impact, now it can be a disaster.

Weight is certainly something that is a problem of mine. It really doesn't seem to matter how much I exercise or what I eat I really have a lot trouble losing weight. I've been pretty good over the last few weeks, and this week I've done 45 minutes of cardio and weights 3 times already (and will probably do another day either tomorrow or Friday), but the weight just doesn't shift. I would really love to lose at least a few kilos before our summer because nothing is going to fit me if I don't
So I will follow your progress with interest Bella. I'm just not sure that I would have the will power to eat so little on certain days.

Actually that makes more sense Bella, what you are saying about the starvation gene not being switched on.
I have messed about with diets on and off for so many years, I am pretty certain I never have more than 1000 to 1200 calories a day, eat a balance diet and all that does is maintain me at my current weight, which has been too high for the last 8 years I guess. I think I ruined my metabolism.
I put on weight in my mid to late forties. I think I had already put on my 'middle aged' weight years prior to starting HRT so it hasn't affected me. Keep us posted on how you get on. There is no way I could do the 500 calories every other day.

Well done at losing 3 lbs, fingers crossed that it is the diet and not fluid retention. i am quietly willing you on. but still have a sort of vision of you on day one with a bowl of gruel and day two surrounded by a banquet of sweetmeats fit for royalty. xxxx

Is it a time limited program then Bella ? I sort of thought it might have to be something that you do indefinitely. But if it only for a month or so maybe it wil do the trick if you then go back to a normal but sensible regime.

Sounds like you are doing well, I would really struggle on 500 calories and due to not being a good sleeper I don't think going to bed on an empty tum would work well for me. Pleased you are managing to stick with it. xxxx

PSML I must admitt as soon as I read it I knew it wouldn't be the diet for me.
But at least you bothered to try for a couple of weeks to see if it would work.
I'm quite worried that I now dismiss things as being 'fads' before I even embark on them these days and susect that may be pure lazyness on my part.
Am now dashing over to read your 'soap box' on slimming world..................

Yes I think you have to try these things before you dismiss them, but I always thought it sounded a bit too radical for me.
At the moment I'm sticking to my meal plan of 2 grams carbs to 1 gram of protein. I've managed to work out quite a good plan that gives me a bit under 1300 calories per day. I’m also going to the gym and doing some cardio for 40 minutes. My aim is to try to do that at least 4 times a week (I’ve done 3 times so far), and 5 times if I can manage it. We’re coming into summer now, so it’s not so hard to get out of bed in the morning..lol…
I'm not sure if I've lost any weight yet, because I refuse to obsess about weighing myself, but I’ve only been on it properly since Monday. I've also just finished 10 days of Utrogestan, and I think I can feel a period coming on, so now's probably not a good time to weigh myself anyway, because my weight has always fluctuated around period time.
