I'm not able to be precise about this, but it seems to me that my flushes/sweats are at their worst first thing in the morning and in the evenings. I'm hot & sweaty most of the time at the moment - it is 34C today - but the burning face feeling seems to be worst am/pm. In a way I could relate the evening one to the fact that I cook then, but I have all doors & windows open, and the house is relatively cool.
Anyone else get this?

Hi saw nobody had replied and am just delving into my memory to my pre-HRT days when i used to get these in abundance. I dont seem to remember them being worse at any given time of day, but I found them easier to cope with if i wasn't at work or in company. Another thing that didn't seem to make any difference to them in my case was how high or low the general temperature was as they seemed to come from within the body so just as bad in winter as in summer for me.. Also between them I went back to be the chilly mortal that i have always been. One thing that i remember definately made them worse though was rather sadly alcohol. It must be very difficult when you are permanently in a hot Country. Mine went on for years I must have been mad not to have gone for help sooner. I reckon I am/ was going to be one of those who has them for life. Whereas I do understand that many women grow out of them if that makes sense so there is hope. xxxx

Things I recall about them - they jused to hit worse at early hours of morning when estradiol is at its lowest. Stress, caffeine, exercise and spicy foods will aggravate them. Other culprits are alcohol and opiate based pain killers including codeine, morphine and drugs like Tramadol. Jacks

After I get up I usually have a hot flush after my morning cup of tea. I then have one after my shower and that's about it really. It I am doing something strenuous like hoovering or cleaning the kitchen or gardening I always end up drenched in buckets of sweat and have to change my clothes. Even my fingers drip with sweat. I had awful sweats most of the time and a flushed face during my first peri meno year but now things seem to be tapering off and are becoming more bearable. I have to say I really appreciate it when I feel all dry and not clammy.
It must be awful living in such a hot climate. I honestly don't think I'd cope very well with high temperatures.

I don't really get too many these days, but when I was in full flush, the nights would always be the worst. Even now if I get a flush it will be at night. I used to get them through the day too, but they just seems more bearable and less frequent during the day.

Thanks all of you - it isn't only me then! I'm on the hunt to find a more sympathetic, and female, gynaecologist. Having been refused HRT and now gone 5 years without it I think the time is fast approaching when I need to review the situation. I'm still having erratic periods, so may need to wait a while. Currently the hot flushes are the worst symptom, but the weather has a bearing on them, that's for sure. I'll see how I am after Christmas, once it gets cold here, so I can get a realistic view of what is going on.
