No, I'm lucky too. Aches and pains aren't something I've had to worry about. Although for a few weeks I've had a really painful left ankle. I couldn't work out what the problem was. If I had just strained it you would think it would have gone away after a few days. It's still slightly sore, but it does seem to be getting better. Maybe I'm just getting arthritic in my old age.... pssst – I’m 53 today (17th).

I am quite envious of having no aches and pains - I have loads. For as long as I can remember I have had joint or muscle aches and pains. The way I deal with it is to exercise as often as I can and then at least I am aching for a reason! I know that sounds a bit bizarre but rather than lying awake in the middle of the night imagining all sorts, I tell myself I perhaps exercised a bit too hard in the gym! Mind over matter. I am also suffering with what I think might be acid reflux. I have had a sore throat which is much worse at night for probably well over a year and I was referred to the hospital for a check and he thinks it is a reflux problem. My GP prescribed Omeprazole but I didn't feel it helped but perhaps I should have taken it more consistently. I do hate getting old. My head is telling me I'm not, but my body doesn't agree!

I have been on Femsoton 1/10 for 4 months now...first 2 months great (but no period - not had one since December 2011 & only 4 that yr in total). Third & 4th month on HRT - period during progesterone part both months both last 14 days... is this normal? Also, bad leg pains/bone ache on proegesterone part months 3 & 4. The legs thing scares me as Mum died at 32yrs old of coronary thrombosis & my sister who is younger than me has had a DVT in her leg a few yrs ago. Am I being paranoid (anxiety being one of the major issues I have had but hoping this goes over time being on HRT). I am at GP tonight to discuss going up to 2/10 Femoston to see if this will help more with anxiety. Helllllllppp!! Stumpy xx

Hi
Thanks for replying.
I am 49 & GP says I am peri, suffered for about 3yrs with anxiety, insomnia etc before a female locum GP didnt tell me I was too young!!
They know about my mum etc...but seem to think its not an issue...are they really hearing me??
I am worried that they will take me off it, as in general I do feel better than i did 4 months ago, am hoping its just settling in problems. Odd as felt great till periods started again after 2 months on it.

Aches and pains for me re one of the most difficult of all the menopause symptoms to categorise as specifically being linked to menopause.
One day I will bore you all into submission re my problems with aches and pains that started up in my early forties.
But just wanted to say that is is so simple to know that a hot flush, night sweats and crippling vaginal atrophy are caused by oestrogen going AWOL but muscular and joint aches and pains are the symptom of so man different things I think it is harder for your average mortal going through life to work out if hey are menopause or something else.
There is of course the other scenario as well that they can symptoms of more than one thing ie menopause and other conditions thus creating an absolute minefield that can lead to mis-diagnosis and incorrect treatments all round. Distressed patients and confused medics.

Hi Pinky Mine is more like a tingling/burning sensation that moves up & down arms & sometimes legs. My OH thinks its the way I sleep & maybe trapped nerve(s). Dont talk to me of anxiety....mind you must admit it is slowly getting better with HRT, slowly. Stumpy xx
