Okay fellow members We are enjoying our banter. I am popping on my moderator hat - does anyone have suggestions for topics which should be made sticky - primarily to give new members information Jacks

I'll get me thinking cap on. I think the HRT section looks a bit bare and feel that many women who are new to menopause forums are looking for information on it.
But I'm mindful that there needs to be a balance between kind of giving factual information and not coming across as fanatical pushers of it as I think that can put some of the 50:50 ers off.
Even though I wax evangelical about it what it did for me, I think it's more about putting information in the public domain and letting intelligent women weigh it up for themselves.
I'll stop now and you can tell me if I am making sense or not?

Maybe something about the changes our bodies will go through. It came as a complete surprise to me how the menopause would affect my body shape.

Just to say I have agree with Jacks that I will try and write something that could be three or four stickies to go at the top of the HRT forum.
Just what preparations are currently available in the UK on the NHS and in private clinics.
Sorry I can't do this for other Country's although my gut feeling is that a lot of these products are International although some carry different names but for example Livial seems to be used all over the hormone prescribing world ( i just bought some in Spain in the chemist) so I hope the listings will be helpful.
Unfortunately I don't think I can do it till the middle of next week and I haven't quite settled on how I will list it. I'm mindful that individual forums don't need to many stickies at the top of the page as it can stop people posting fresh thread which are what keeps forums alive.
Just wanted you to know that I am happy to do my bit even though I can't commit to being a mod.

I'm mindful that individual forums don't need to many stickies at the top of the page as it can stop people posting fresh thread which are what keeps forums alive. That's a good point Susan, and something that I'm a bit mindful of too. Unfortunately our sticky topics don't stand out as sticky topics as much as they do on other forums, so new threads that people post tend to look as if they are down the list a bit, and could get missed by newbies or guests. So I'm thinking that maybe we need a new section - one for the threads that are more "sticky" (which only staff members can add to, but of course if you want a topic added to that section you only have to ask) and another section for more general discussions on menopause. I shall put my thinking cap on and come up with something.

Okay, I've just created this new section called "Menopause FAQs". You will see that you won't be able to actually create any new threads here, because then it will just end up being another discussion section like the Support section. However, if you have a topic that you really want added here, you can create a thread in any of the other sections, and one of us (Pinky, Bex, Jacks or myself) can move it here.

I have actually managed to do something on currently available HRT 's but need to give it a final once over before I send it to Jacks to make into sticky info for the HRT forum, it's to give members and guests a vauge idea of what is out there etc

lilangel1 I am sorry to hear about your digestive problems. I don't think there is a digestive problems thread but do feel free to start your own thread.

from me as well. I dont think we have anything on food intolerances, but if you have any questions start a topic and we will come along and try our best. Dont know if these would be described as food intolerances as such, but now I am meno, I can barely tolerate alcohol, coffee or drinks like coke. I guess as one is a depressive and the others have stimulantes in them that goes some way towards explaining it. xxxx

I know it sounds odd but when it all starts you can become convinced that you have some kind of weird disease(s) so I was sort of comforted when I found out it was meno and wasn't going round the bend. xxxx

Hi lilangel1
Why not make a post in our new members section, so we can all say a proper Hi to you. We'll certainly do our best to help you cope with your problems. Even just talking about things with other women who understand what meno is like really helps a lot.
