Anti inflamatories for it she said. No tight clothing?? I amy treat myself to a massage & see if it helps, then that will be my excuse to have one regularly Its odd though isnt it that a back problem can hurt you legs, back feels fine. Stumpy xx

Hey Stumpy
At one stage I thought I had a bit of sciatica (self diagnosed which isn't always adviseable of course...lol...). Anyway I had a look on Youtube and actually found that there were quite a few exercises you could do to help relieve the pain, and I think they did help me. The pain eventually went away, so I still don't really know what it was, but maybe some stretching type exercises might help you. If you just put sciatica in the search field you'll get quite a few hits.

Thanks Rambo I just found a site that shows stretches etc...done one where you lie on back & pull knees up to chest...that felt nice. My TV position this evening I think ...maybe persuade hubby to give me a rub. GP said it can come & go, but its been with me for 3 weeks now with hardly any respite. Am also going to try anti inflammatory foods too, as dont liek to take pills unless really have no choice.

Actually that sounds like one that I did as well, except I think instead of just pulling your knee up to your chest, your pull your knee as far as you can to the opposite side (ie left knee towards right shoulder), so it really gives the muscles a good old stretch.

Another good one to stretch the lower back is press ups - against a wall. Stand at arms' length from the wall with feet hip width apart; "fall" towards the wall, and then push back.
I have a damaged sacro-iliac joint, and this was recommended by a physio. I need to start doing it again, as I've had a lot of back pain lately. You should start with, maybe, 10 reps & build up from there.
