yes I do, I am thinking of going carb free to see if it makes any difference. Although I am always loathe to start any 'eating plan' because as soon as I do all I ever think about is food. Which is so annoying. I think about what I have eaten and what i can eat next and it seems to totally occupy my thoughts for the first four or five weeks of doing it. Bizzare really.
I did slimming world for a year or so and lost a stone at least on it in the first 3 months, which was all I really need to lose at that time.
That was 18 years ago and i did the 'green plan' mainly and know that amount of carbs just wouldn't work for me now. Also slimming world is a weird way of eating really so never been convinced that it is a way one could eat for the rest of ones lives.
Although that said I guess going carb free, is really the red plan on slimming world - ie a protein dominated plan.

Thanks lainey. I guess I should go to them again to get an updated specsifcation of what they do now to see if it has fundamentally changed. When i was doing it years ago, you could also do red and green either alternate days or weeks. The only provisio was you couldn't swap from red to green half way through a day, or it wouldn't work. One thing I hated about it was they were big advocates of drinking sugar free carbonated drinks (full of either aspartame or saccharine) to try & fill you up but with no calories. Seemed unhealthy and poor advice to me so I woudn't do it. Women were drinking two litres of diet coke or pepsi max a day I went to the sessions for a year although I reached 'arget in 3 months as I only had a stone to lose. I could tell from the meetings that most did green as you got enormous amounts of foods on it, which suited all the overeaters. My view is that slimming world is a good way to lose weight but a bad way to keep weight off long term, as it does not teach how to get your body to eat less & better foods. On green women were eating industrial sized plates of pasta everynight & some for lunch as well, & although it brought about weight lose it didn't seem like it was a healthy way to eat for life. To me excessive amounts of carbs make one feel sluggish. The thing I did like about it was the unlimited fruit and veg provided it was stuff you had to peel. Even so it could be abused as the friend I went was eating two whole fresh pineapples a day covered in bucket loads of natural fromage frais ! - this was allowed on the plan ! xxxx

I was on it about 17 years ago both slimming world and weight watchers have worked for me, but with the proviso that I must go to the weekly meetings. If I don't go to the 'weigh in' then I don't stand a chance, it sort of motivates me to stick to it and I used to love listening to every-ones confessions of what they had and hadn't done foodwise during the week. There can be a huge sense of camaraderie at the meetings which I think for many is the key to how the diets are successful almost as much as the food intake. I went almost every week for a year and kept the weight off all the time I went, needless to say about 3 months after I stopped going it started to creep up again. Although I did successfully lose weight a couple of years back due to stress - not a recommended route. Sorry lainey, I didn't mean to make your thread drift going on about diets, I do think unfortunately bloating is a meno issue that many of us have to deal with, it's very hard to come up with definitive solutions though. xxxx

Susan, It helped me with weight loss after daughter was born and i agree about the fizzy juice. It is now designed where you can have ie protein and potatoes in the same meal. I think that as long as its sensible eating and being aware of calories amounts you can sustain the loss. Some people believe because they are told the food is "free" they can eat it by the bucketload which isn't true as its still calories. They have cracked down a lot on allowing ie 2 pineapples as consultants now advice how fruit turns to sugar etc. Is lemon in hot water each morning not good for bloating? Lainey xx Sorry I didn't see this lainey, that is a coincidence as I lost weight on slimming world after the birth of my last child as well. I'm glad they have cracked down on the fruit as I am sure that is why a lot of my group weren't losing very quickly. There were folk eating endless bunches of bananas, and i was eating about 5lbs of grapes a week ! miraculously I still lost weight however it may have been more due to crawling around on the floor after a two year old and a newborn ! She did use to say go easy on grapes and bananas though, so even then they knew that the 'free fruit' could be a problem. Must say I had a brilliant time there, I was with such a funny and amusing group of women. It was nothing like weight watchers where the group leaders have to stay painfully slim to be allowed the job, by the end of the year the lady who ran it was the size of a small house which we all thought was rather wonderful. xxxx
