Hi Lainey No you are not the only one I have never heard that fruit could cause bloating, I've always assumed that a decent amount of fruit would be good in any diet. It will be interesting to see if cutting back a bit has any effect. Fingers crossed it makes you feel a bit better.

I haven't heard about fruit causing bloating. However, I did just find this website link.... www.livestrong.com/article/447283-why-fruit-causes-bloating/You probably need to be a bit careful about how much fruit you eat anyway, especially if you are concerned about weight gain, because there is a lot of sugar (fructose) in fruit. 2-3 serves a day is usually what is recommended.

the worst culprit for high fructose are grapes, citrus fruits and genetically modified apples. We always buy old English apples. Some of the rubbish in the supermarket is akin to biting into several lumps of sugar. Jacks

Lainey I think you would be better to try and stick with quanties of vegetables - if you get bloated make a note of what you are eating. I find some cheeses, chicken, milk, onions and too much bread trigger it. I refuse to eat cereals, high sugar fruits and large amounts of starch. Jacks xx

I have a problem with bloating no matter what I eat. My gastroenterologist and I have been adjusting my diet for some time now. I have excluded some foods then added them back slowly. I have deleted some foods totally. I use soy milk and almond milk rather than regular cow milk or even lactaid- free type products. I now cook my fruit and eat it mixed with yogurt (I can eat yogurt). I have had two rounds of antibiotics. I have been on medication to slow down bowel action and laxatives to speed up bowel action. I take meds to coat the lining of my digestive tract. I have had scans and biopsies. So many meds! So many modifications! I am still having problems with painful bloating. I am going next month for a new round of tests. Has anyone had any kind of relief or cure? Please share.

Hi and welcome your bloating could be caused by the fructose in fruits and often added to food in the form of corn syrup or fructose. Fruits high in fructose include grapes and citrus fruits. You might benefit from adding a digestive enzyme especially one containing bromelain. Jacks
