Thought I would put up a post about the distressing condition of Lichen Sclerosus that I know some unfortunate women can suffer from and that when I first started to suffer from Vaginal Atrophy spent sometime panicing this was what I might have.
I felt that on a forum such as this it is important to make reference to it & wasn't sure if was an 'other health issue' or a 'menopause issue' so will leave it to the Mods to decide if it's in the correct forum, it tends to affect women of age 50 and over.
I am putting up links so this post isn't too long.

Was also concerned as I saw a link to this article elsewhere and was wondering what others thought about it ?

My own view is that if you have something as serious as this that can affect your own health & happiness and your intimate personal relationship is that you should seek professional medical opinion.
I know that both women themselves are not that aware of this condition, as indeed I wasn't until a couple of years ago when I came across it whilst frantically googling my vaginal symptoms & many medics do not appear to think of it unless a patient suggests this is what she may be suffering from.
Regarding the article itself on the treatment of Lichen Sclerosus it seems somewhat dubious to me.
I'm assuming at somepoint it will go on to link to a miracle product or two to sell (Kerching !! something called the whole women store, anyone heard of it ) & would assume none of these have been double blind tested for 5 years and possibly self-treating could do more harm than good. But women get desperate and then become gullible which is unfortunate but of course understandable.
Anyway though I would do my bit to raise awareness, as I think this could be a case where ignorance is definately not bliss.
