Sorry, but I haven't even read the article yet, i have gone straight to the readers comments. I know I am a saddo but I just can't resist them. OMG at shaz and Dave 'It is true - my wife is almost 50 now and she's getting a proper darby!!!' Hope hubbie never says that about me. The gynea at the hospital when i was having my scan and hysteroscopy did try and explain all this to me as well, about the movement of fat in women once menopause sets in. I did ask the question though as I am always worried that something sinister is going on and want any changes in my body explained to me. I think I thought I had some weird fibroid thing growing in me that nobody had noticed and it had decied to settle round my waist. Just noticed that there is the usual comment of 'I wouldn't touch HRT with a barge poll in there' Governments over the last ten years have done a brilliant job in brainwashing women into not asking for it/terrifying them of it so that it doesn't have to be prescribed anymore. Great job guys - when you have loads of 70 year old women who cant look up due to their bent spines you will be reaping the benefits by getting all the fees back in 'old folks homes'. Can't decide if its 'conspiracy' or just 'cock up' probably the later as usual. xxxx

Susan I always laugh at the comments. I keep my levels high enough to keep the fat at bay although I also stick with a plain diet. I am wearing size ten jeans and a couple of years ago (pre thyroxine) I needed these in a 12. Jacks

Well done.
I just cant resist those user comments. I always mean to sign up, especially when I see a load of old tosh being spouted about HRT (the new crack cocaine, blah, blah, blah) but know I will only end up in a row with someone on there.

Actually looking at the two women in the picture, although they are both big, they have still got waists. To me the meno weight issue that I see on many women looks different, their hips and bums seem to start disappearing and they lose their waists. I guess they didn't think the photon through properly.
Those ladies look like what I think of as a 'pear shape' I thought that the memo weight distribution brought about more of an 'apple shape' and it was that which was comsidered very detrimental to the health, carrying the weight in your waist rather than your hips.

Susan I thought the same thing about the photos. The danger arrives when the hip waist ratio vanishes and the backside vanishes. That is the apple shape. Those two still had a waist. Jacks xx

LOL must have just been a random pictures that the DM had in their archives that they bring out for 'menopause' articles. How charming of them, nothing like creating a positive image !
