Hi I have been on Femoston 1/10 since March/April. More energy, sleeping lots better but the last 2 months after i finish the prog part of HRT i get PMT...anxious, palpatations, aches pains etc. This month is really bad. I get my period on the 2nd week of the prog part but no PMT at this time. Really fed up with it, as all seemed to be going so well. Any ideas for anxiety/palpatations? Thanks Stumpy xx

Hi Jacks
Thanks for reply.
think it only comes in 1/10 & 2/10. So only 10 mg of prog.
Really frustrating as been going so well.
Its odd getting PMT ish after period finished. Lasts about a week.

Hi Stumpy
I don't know what is available in the UK now re dydrogesterone, but it might be worth asking your GP if there is a way of giving you extra without changing from your standard Femoston prescription, which seems, otherwise, to suit you. I took Femoston 2/20, which was great. I know this isn't around now, but worth checking to see if you can up the prog part.

Hi Gelis
I dont think they do the 2/20 now. But I will ask GP. Started the prog part last night, made a difference already.

I agree with Gelis, maybe go back to your GP and instead of asking to change your HRT as you seem to do well on it, tell him or her that you feel much better on the progesterone phase of your HRT and ask to take the mini pill (POP) alongside it.
I used to take it eons ago when there was a typical 'Daily Mail type scare' about the proper contraceptive pill.
You have nothing to lose by trying it for three months alongside the Femoston, it might be just what you need. If it doesn't work then just stop taking it.
I think the current one in common useage is called cerazetta (?).
I have a younger friend who is still on it even though 47 and not sure if she needs contraception, she uses it for the hormone benefit. She was all over the place when she tried to come off it and her Doc put her back on and said to stay on it till 50

It certainly depends on the individual, Pinky - progesterone was what I needed, long term - and the type used in Femoston (dydrogesterone) is, reportedly, the best tolerated of the lot.

I agree Gelis. As 2 yrs ago the GP put me on Prempack C as my first go at HRT...my life! it made me 10 times worse...only lasted 4 months on it.
Scared me off it for ages, then i tried Femoston which seems to suit me a lot better.
Awful tingly skin today, not nice.

They say that oestrogen is the uplifting hormone and that progesterone is the calming hormone.
Maybe as anxiety is on of your worst symptoms progesterone works well for you. ?
I've been on continuous progesterone for the two years six months I have been on HRT and seem to do fine on it.
It is good news for you if you get on progesterone as when you go post menopause and your bleeding stops you can go onto a continuous HRT like I am it means you can have a small dose of progesterone everyday to keep your lining thin, and you should do well on it.
Meanwhile as you are still peri menopausal you will need to get the extra progesterone from another source.
It's none of my beeswax if you still need contraception or not, but if you do you could just swap what you currently use for the POP mini pill for a few months and see if that does the trick.
The minera coil is also progesterone. My friend loves hers - she was given it in her early fifties for continuous bleeding (over a year !) and it sorted it out and she now feels fine as well.

Same here stumpy Make sure they don't, get it all wrong and give you the full contraceptive pill, not sure what that has in it, but it has probably got other things as well as progesterone, as that is why the mini pill is called the POP ie (P)rogesterone (O)nly (P)ill xxxx
