My physiotherapist is sending me to Pilates classes in January to help strengthen the core muscles in my back after I injured my back in a bad fall six months ago. Well, actually the fall reactivated a preexisting back injury from a couple of years ago.
So, has anyone ever tried Pilates? I hate gyms and being amongst a bunch of sweaty people but have decided I will give it a go.

Thanks Pinky. I landed awkwardly when I fell over a boulder injuring both my left kneecap and spraining my right ankle at the same time. I came out of A&E on crutches and was unable to put weight on either leg for a couple of weeks. That was a lot of fun not! Then I limped around all summer pottering in the garden and got a telling off from the doc who said I should not be limping cos it was bad for my back and bad for the sprained foot. Doc was right back played up something awful as a result of not walking properly and as result of fall.
Good news is that back is much improved and only hurts when I bend. I have wear and tear according to physio and not a lot can be done about that. Pilates is to regain strength in muscles that I have avoided using to prevent back pain.

My OH had a bad back injury and was been having 1-1 Pilates instruction for a while now it's really helped. I hope it works for you too.

Gobe Sorry to hear about this. You could try my remedy for this type of injury - a low dose of DHEA. Jacjs
