I have lost four great friends due to this filthy nonsense. These ladies were all sharp - on the ball and individualistic. Friend A helped collate books on a specialised collectible - now spends her time vegetating on a high dose of anti depressants Friend B used to be forever finding a new fresh hobby now almost helpless invalid and hits the bottle nightly Friend C was an expert astrologer and now blames all of her menopause related ills on a road crash twelve years ago and takes 8 times the recommended dose of vitamin D (think she will poison herself) Friend D used to get up to mischief and I recall laughing helplessly with her - now behaves as an old lady and five years my junior My younger sister spends her time resting her headaches and popping anti depressants. How many here feel that you have lost a significant female friend thanks to menopause. Jacks

Jacks, none of my friends - my age (50) and older - have had/have experienced a hideous meno (like I'm having). Most are still working full time or enjoying a fulfilled retirement.
I'm the hormonal freak in my circle.
Six years now and no sign of an improvement in my friggin' meno symptoms, night sweats/insomnia have never improved on high to low dose, pills to patches.
Full of envy of my closest, dearest friend, we're the same age and she has not experienced NOT one symptom - by comparison I'm a wreck who can't now work - sleep deprivation impairs my concentration so greatly. How on earth can this cr@p not affect your confidence. If it wasn't for my partner, I'd be in financial ruin now thanks to meno.
