I'm cycle day 17 and suddenly I noticed I'm spotting! This would explain my anxiety and nervousness recently! I never had spotting in the middle of the cycle- what could this mean? Too low estrogen, too much estrogen or progesterone? Should I discontinue with progesterone? Well, at least I'm glad that the hormones are the cause for my condition...

When I was using utrogestan for 25 days out of the 28 day cycle, I had a withdrawal bleed/spotting when I was off the utro - not sure if too much oestrogen would cause this, but definitely lack of progesterone would. I specifically wanted a no bleed regime, hence alternate nights use. I never have any breakthrough bleeding now (touch wood).

Thank you! It's a real bleeding now, not only spotting. Does this often happens under HRT?

I just phoned with my gyno, he is today in his office and he said I should discontinue with both hormones, because I have a real bleeding, not only spotting ad after 4 days I can start again only with E, and then from day 10 with P.

Rusalka, I'm glad you got some advice. This can happen but best to get it checked out. You will prob be a bit up & down the next few days or so but at least you will know why. Lainey xx I went to bed, because I was so tired, but couldn't sleep, I was again totally nervous, with the burning in my both breasts and in the arms. I have somehow the feeling that at the moment I don't need so much E, but P. But my doc want to see me in 2 months, except if the bleeding don't stop, so I still don't know which hormones are out of balance... Yes, at least I know what I feel so unwell, but I would like to do something to improve the situation if you know what I mean. I'm a person who always want to be active in fixing or improving something...

I also wanted to mention that this time I didn't have any headache before the bleeding started. Would this mean that my E levels were o.k., but the P is too low? I was using 7 days 80mg Utrogest vaginal till now. If I read about the symptoms on internet it's so very confusing, because there are pages where low P ( and E-dominance) is supposed to be the cause for anxiety, depression, insomnia and low libido, but other ones are saying it's the low estrogen causing all that. They can't both have right??

Rusalka, Re the Internet I would avoid looking on different pages for info which I know we all do if we want answers but sometimes these pages are so inaccurate and have us convinced we are ill when perhaps its not the case. When its meno related I stick to on here and my professor. Are you due to get your hormone levels checked? Lainey xx Lainey, thank you I know what do you mean, it's just..I would like to know what is wrong with my body, what it needs really.. I hope that my endo will check my hormone levels this week. At the moment I feel moderate anxiety, with sensitive breasts, light crampings in my stomach. I slept very bad, with bad dreams and negative thoughts when I was awake. I still have a feeling that I may need more progesterone, but I'm making a break for 5 days with Utrogest now. I would so love to know what to do...

That's good if they check your levels as they will see exactly whats happening. I think some of your symptoms are going to be slightly worse over the next few days though as you have stopped your hormones just now. I also wonder if the nightmares and negative thoughts are down to your thyroid as jacks said they were symptoms. You have quite a few things happening just now and everything is out of sync with this bleeding. That will cause you to feel out of sorts. Lainey xx I have stopped with progesterone, but I'm using one pump estrogen, I don't want to discontinue totally, because my levels would drop down to zero within few days ( like 2 months ago, when I was 4 days without estrogel ) You know, the doc said if we imitate a natural cycle, then should I reduce E, because during the period the body is also producing very little E.

Now I'm know why I feel so shitty since 3 days- again I got my period, only after 16 days, already second time. I wonder if someone else is also experiencing such short cycles on HRT? I started with P on the day 12, but I took it only twice, then this severe PMS started, so I thought P makes me depressed and I discontinued. But if I get my period without the P does it mean I have enough P anyway? I would like to understand what's happening with my body. But maybe it's normal that before the menopause the cycles are just chaotic, even on HRT?

Lainey, thank you for your support! I hope you are right and these extra bleedings plus severe PMS are due to change of dose in estrogen and thyroid meds too. I'm so sick and tired of this hormonal chaos, i wonder if some day I will feel better or is this how the rest of my life is gonna be My new endo which belongs to the top endo's in the whole country is convinced that my thyroid levels were too low, so I have to increase the dose. I think if I don't trust her, I can't trust no other doc in this life and I hope she has right... You have extra bleedings too? My gyno told me if I choose continuos HRT I won't have any bleedings anymore. Then I read about what Dr. Schwarzbein recommends ( only 12 days on P) and I have changed my mind, but now I think maybe it would be a better choice for me.. It's so difficult, because everybody is recommending something else regarfdng HRT..

A wacky thyroid upsets the menstrual cycle as I'm aware. Jacks

I just want to comment that my periods were every two weeks for two years before they finally stopped for long periods of time. Perhaps occaisional spotting may be due to surges in your own hormones and not hrt??

Perhaps occaisional spotting may be due to surges in your own hormones and not hrt?? This is what I thought too- maybe are my own hormones, a lot of ladies have such erratic cycles in the peri. I hope my gyno has tomorrow some good advice for me and an ultrasound...
