My Gp arranged an echocardiogram in view of my thyroid disease and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It descended into a fiasco when the sonographer grumbled about my breast implants - god know they must see enough of them Anyhow the doctor put the fear of God into me by suggesting that there might be an issue with the left ventricle and an irregular pump action. To be fair to the guy he surmounted protocol by sending me to the chest pain clinic. An ECG found nothing and the second doctor has recommended an MRI scan because there may not be a problem - just a false positive result from the echocardiogram which he described as a crude tool. So now I wait for a turn in the MRI scanner (he reckoned it wasn't worth paying privately) I know one thing though I'm not taking intellect destroying statins and nobody will be getting my hormones away from me whatever scare stories they try. They are looking for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the condition the footballer Fabrice has. Fortunately for me the guy who pulled him through is at the hospital I attend for the scan and works at the local private hospital and is a leading specialist in this disorder. Jacks

I'm still here and fuming with rage - couldn't type for a couple of days as I bent a nail right back (ouch) when raging at husband on Sunday and had to snap it back into place Still it has settled down now. I saw my GP today and took copies of all the hospital stuff and from the lunatic from the Primary Care Trust with his special interest in cardiology . The upshot was that my doctor hadn't had copies of the scan and was pleased to get them. He gave me a cuddle and squeezed my hand when I told him how the first idiot had just scared the life out of me. He said that it was possible the levothyroxine had triggered an abnormal heart beat but he didn't have the results of the latest ECG. However he told me waiting for the MRI scan shouldn't take months and said he was going to speak to the cardiologist. He agreed that the situation had been handled very badly and said that the patients should not be frightened in this way. As I pointed out I'm a tough old bird so what might it do to someone more vulnerable? The tooth is almost finished and I'm booking in those face fillers next (heart issue or no heart issue) Jacks

Last week went for consultation about face fillers and will book them in after period (higher pain threshold) Yesterday I had the state of the art heart scan. I was rolled into a tube which reminded me of the infamous London Transport tube only at least I wasn't crammed in next to a smelly fat burger munching fellow traveller. It was noisy and after 30 seconds of panic I relaxed using my self hypnosis technique. The radiologist instructed me to breathe out and hold my breath (harder than breathing in and holding breath) but I found this a doddle and mentally patted myself on the back and answered I was fine whenever he asked me. However mid way through the procedure I was injected with a drug designed to stress the heart and see how it performs under exertion. UGH it was revolting - my neck broke out in a sweat and as nor adrenalin flooded my system I felt panic stricken. I looked up at the tube roof and wanted to beat my way out. My skin burned and my throat had a revolting burning sensation. I wasn't doing this very well - that was certain. My heart banged in protest but I had no pain or discomfort relating to it. I think I suffered a slightly allergic reaction from the drug. The procedure was stopped and I quickly calmed myself and we continued. The Radiologist was beaming when he helped me out and said that everyone hated the stress medication and that the images were crystal clear thanks to my breath holding so now I wait for the results - for certain I was sticking it out considering the cost of these scans. Poor Jacks, I can imagine how bad this test was, I have experienced something similar when my pituitary was tested and I was put on stress artificially. I hope your results will be positive, crossing my fingers for you!

Pinky it was only the stress part which was unpleasant - the remainder was quite relaxing. Cardiologist will have the results to decipher in three days so how long is anyones guess One good thing - referral to dermatologist arrived yesterday and now I'm using testosterone daily - hair is improving lol Jacks xx

I am so f*cking angry I have just taken 6 mg of valium. To get the results of my scan is August - if not life threatening. So I asked the cardiologist's secretary what conditions were considered life threatening and she couldn't tell me lol. If it is considered life threatening then I could see him in 2 months (if I am still alive) and he has not examined my report yet. However I can see him privately for an interpretation of my report - ker ching! Sigh - another fucking bill

No cardiology bill and a clean bill of health. The cardiologist telephoned and told me my heart is in fine shape - I let my feelings about the fool who put me through complete hell be known I am furious that I suffered this misery and took a place in an expensive scanner which another person needed. It is gradually sinking in that my heart is fine.
