Dear Ladies, I'm now almost two weeks on Estradot(Vivelle) patches 75 to see if I'm resorbing the estrogen better then with Estrogel. I don't have any problems with the patches, I find them even more practical as Estrogel. I only wonder how much is a patch 75 compared with Estrogel? I mean, how many pumps of estrogel compared with the estrogen released from the patch? I'm really bad in mathematics... But maybe you have some informations about it? First week on the patches I felt better, but since 5 days I have a feeling my estrogen is again too low

I'm not certain of the ratio of estrogel compared to your patch - but I tend to use 4 1/2 pumps daily. What symptoms are you suffering? Jacks

Hi Jacks, thanks for your reply! A german gyno just answered my question, she wrote that a patch 100 can be compared with 2 pumps of estrogel! This mean that I get now even less estrogen as on 2.5 Estrogel! No wonder that I feel depressed, weepy, anxious and nervous, plus having the feelin of sunburn on my back ( this is what I had instead of hot flashes..) and my sleep problems are even worse. I have a blood test on friday, so next week I will know the results. I have a half empty bottle of Estrogel, so I just put some extra estrogen to see if I will feel a difference. I asked my gyno if I should also try 4 or 5 pumps of estrogel, but she said the insurance won't pay such high doses, because they are not usual here in Germany Dear Ladies, I'm now almost two weeks on Estradot(Vivelle) patches 75 to see if I'm resorbing the estrogen better then with Estrogel. In the Uk the dose is 2/ 4 pumps daily with some women using six pumps. Try looking at Professor Studd's site - I had that sun burn pre hormones it is horrible. Jacks, I asked another hormone expert and he wrote me that my patch 75 is about 1.5 pumps estrogel! I mean, this is a joke, this is much too less for me Today I had a blood test and tomorrow I can make a phone call with my gyno. Meanwhile I will add some extra estrogel from my last bottle. p.s. the same doc also wrote to me that bioidentical estrogen doesn't cause cancer, it can only make it grow faster, if the person already has a cancer! Wow, this from his mouth, he is always so very careful with estrogen! One pump estrogel and not more for all ladies, no matter how strong the symptoms are...

Rusalka You are right - that is not enough to get rid of menopause symptoms. It is true that estradiol doesn't cause cancer and just stimulates growth of existing cancer - many women in menopause get breast cancer without touching hormones. My own personal view is that xenoestrogens cause the damage and I am always careful to minimise my exposure to them ie too many chemicals in many household cleaning agents and new furniture - mattresses and sofas. I don't understand this anymore.. I just had a phone call with my gyno and she said finally I have quite good estrogen levels- 308 pmol! Last time, before the patches, they were 77. But I feel even worse now, totally depressed, weepy, hopeless and I have anxiety and terrible insomnia! So I wonder if it's really the estrogen. Maybe I need more Progesterone?? Last time my prog level was quite low. Now the gyno put me on Chlormadynon, a gestagen, to lower my male hormones which are too high. It's true that I'm having a lot of stress at the moment ( separation and I'm moving next week in my own appartment), so my nerves are quite raw, but nevertheless, I just feel that my hormones are contrubuting a lot to my current condition. Or the HRT is just not working for me..

Rusalka You need higher levels then 308 pmol to negate your symptoms. They should be over 400 pmol. When you are stressed you burn more estradiol. I think you should top up with gel and see how you feel as a result. Big hugs and good luck with the move. Jacks xx

Yesterday I have added 2 pumps of Estrogel and I felt even worse, totally down, weepy and anxious. I also had feeling of sore breasts. Today I didn't add any Estrogel and I feel little better again. Maybe I'm now now estrogen dominant, because my prog is very low and since one year I didn't have such "high" estrogen levels? Today I anyway have to restart with gestagen, so I will see if I will feel better soon. My gyno also said, the body needs few weeks to get used on new blood levels. But I'm still sick and tired of this unstable hormonal situation..

Yes you feel anxious weepy and depressed - hardly surprising after a separation and peri menopause not to mention your thyroid disorder. Jacks xxx

I wonder how is rusalka doing? So sad that members have abandoned the forum...
I think all hormones exhibit what they call 'paradoxical' effects or an 'inverted U-shape curve' regarding dose and effect. High doses cause the same effects as low doses, the best results are achieved with medium doses.
