Can You Stop the Menopause?I'm amazed that I haven't seen reference to this article on the various menopause forums. The headline doesn't really reflect the content well but it's basically about her personal search for help to overcome her feelings of ill health during menopause. The comments are pretty scathing - I have to say I'm appalled at the lack of support from other menopausal women. The situation is not helped by the fact that no-one (including Jeanette herself, the doctors who have commented and the menopausal women) seems to be aware of the availability of many of these very same 'Bioidentical' hormones on the NHS in the UK (and elsewhere). Not one person has pointed out the meaning of bio-identical in this context and the differences between the synthetic progestogens and progesterone, for example. I think this is a classic example of personalised 'Functional' medicine at it's best. Something the NHS is sorely lacking. The comments regarding quackery are appallingly ill-informed - much of Jeanette's treatment has a significant amount of evidence to back it. The only difference is she has had to pay for extensive testing and a personalised treatment plan based on the results of those tests, something she is unable to obtain on the NHS. What does everyone else think?

I agree. There's a thread about compounded on MM and some members are trying to shut it down. I don't understand why they are so passionate about this. Compounded medicines in Brazil are more regulated than conventional medicines. They've been around for centuries and they pose exactly the same risks as the conventional drugs.
