This is my main issue that has not greatly improved with menopause. It was crashing morning fatigue during perimenopause and now it's morning fatigue. I have to confess I have always been a night owl and that can be one of the main reasons for morning fatigue, but my sleep has improved a lot, to the extent that I can sleep 12 hours, but deep sleep is always in the morning, never at night. I suppose it's just who I am? Are you a night owl or an early bird? Does this circadian rhythm have changed or been exacerbated with menopause?
Thanks!

I am a night owl and yes my sleep has changed since menopause. I rarely sleep right through the night any more and always wake up every few hours.

I’m a night owl, always have been. I recently stopped hrt and just couldn’t function with fatigue. I had a 24 hour cortisol test and I’m flatlining all day, the comments from doc were that I had phase 2 HPA axis dysfunction. I’ve restarted hrt and am slowly regaining energy. I’m also going to see a specialist re. HPA issue.

Hi Dawncam! Glad to hear you are regaining some energy. I hope the specialist can help you. I must confess I had to google your condition.

I’m not sure it is a condition but I’ve also got borderline thyroid results so something isn’t as it should be! Going back on hrt has defo helped so I wonder if really low sex hormones can impact on cortisol and thyroid?
